Here at KS Lift Trucks, we aim to support and encourage young people to delve into a job that they are passionate about. Through apprenticeship programmes, we enable enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team, where we help to support their learning. We are a tight-knit family-run business, and we welcome all apprentices’ on board to become part of the family too.

Reece is one of our most recent apprentices, who has worked with us since November 2021. In December 2021, Reece started his Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, provided by one of the UK’s leading training facilities in the forklift truck industry, F-TEC.  This particular course spans over 3 years, including 5 x 1-week training blocks that take place in Swindon each year. When attending his training, Reece travels via train from Chorley and stays in a hotel with gym facilities whilst he is there. Through gaining hands-on experience with us and attending these training weeks, Reece will be able to develop a strong portfolio of work to go towards his end point assessment.

Before starting with us, Reece attended Parklands High School in Chorley, and then later completed his BTEC Level 3 in Engineering at Runshaw College. Now 20 years old and working at KS Lift Trucks, Reece has so many prospects ahead of him! He has so far completed his first year of the apprenticeship, achieving outstanding end point assessment results, and has now started his second year.

When he is not at F-TEC, Reece is mentored by one of our experienced senior technicians, Ged Hodgkinson. Ged supports Reece’s learning by getting him involved in everyday servicing and pre-planned and emergency repairs that our team looks after. The skills and knowledge gained through firsthand work experience will assist Reece throughout his apprenticeship.

Outside of work, Reece is a keen Wigan Athletic supporter, who enjoys socialising with his friends and cycles to keep fit. Not only that, he’s also currently learning how to drive, alongside all of these activities and work too.

At KS Lift Trucks, we are very proud of how far Reece has come, and we are excited to see even more of his potential. He is highly respected and well thought of within our service team, as he is very helpful and keen to learn more skills as he progresses through the course. We are always keen to meet other young people who would like to find out more or get involved with the apprenticeship program. If you would like to find more information about this course, visit F-TEC’s website or contact us on 01257 452296.
